Daily Care Tips

Cleaning Your Jewelry
- Basic Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe down your jewelry after each wear.
- Deep Cleaning: For deeper cleans, gently wash with lukewarm water and a mild soap. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid soaking for long periods or using abrasive materials.

Caring for Precious Stones
Opal
Opals are among the most delicate gemstones and require extra care. They contain water within their structure, making them sensitive to temperature changes and dryness.
- Avoid exposing opals to extreme heat, direct sunlight, or very dry environments — this can cause cracking (known as "crazing").
- Never use ultrasonic cleaners, steam cleaners, or harsh chemicals on opals.
- Clean gently with a soft, damp cloth only. Do not soak.
- Store in a soft pouch away from other stones to prevent scratching. You can place a small damp cloth nearby in an airtight container if you live in a very dry climate.
- Remove opal jewelry before physical activity, swimming, or showering.
Important reminder: Opals are made in water. They also loose flash if exposed to too much water. Please avoid entering water while wearing opals.
Amethyst, Citrine & Quartz
These stones are relatively durable but can fade with prolonged sun exposure.
- Clean with mild soapy water and a soft brush; rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Store away from direct sunlight to preserve their colour.
- Avoid ultrasonic cleaners if the stone has inclusions or fractures.
Labradorite, Moonstone & Feldspar Stones
These stones have a beautiful optical phenomenon (labradorescence/adularescence) that can be dulled by buildup.
- Wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth after each wear.
- Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners.
- Store separately to prevent surface scratching.
Turquoise & Porous Stones
Porous stones absorb liquids and chemicals easily, which can permanently alter their colour.
- Keep away from perfumes, lotions, oils, and water.
- Clean only with a dry or very slightly damp soft cloth — never soak.
- Store in a dry environment away from humidity.
General Gemstone Tips

Caring for Different Metals
Sterling Silver
Sterling silver naturally tarnishes over time when exposed to air and moisture, but it's easy to maintain.

- Avoid exposure to chlorine, bleach, and sulfur-containing products (like rubber bands or certain foods).

Gold Fill
Gold fill contains a thick layer of real gold bonded to a base metal, making it much more durable than plated metals. With proper care, it can last years.

- Avoid prolonged exposure to water, sweat, chlorine, and harsh chemicals.
- Remove before swimming, showering, or exercising.
- Store in a dry, cool place — a soft pouch or jewelry box is ideal.
Rose Gold Fill
Rose gold fill has the same durability as gold fill, with a warm, rosy hue from its copper-rich alloy.
- Follow the same care as gold fill — clean gently with a soft cloth and keep dry.
- The copper content means it may tarnish slightly faster than yellow gold fill if exposed to moisture or sweat. Dry thoroughly after any contact with water.
- Polish with a soft cloth to restore its warm glow.
Antique Bronze
Antique bronze has a rich, aged patina that gives it its distinctive character. This patina is part of its beauty — but it does require some mindful care.
- Avoid water and moisture, which can accelerate oxidation and alter the patina unevenly.
- Do not use silver or metal polishes — these will strip the intentional antique finish.
- Wipe gently with a dry soft cloth after wearing.
- Store in a dry place, ideally in an anti-tarnish pouch.
- If you prefer to slow further darkening, apply a very thin coat of Renaissance Wax or a similar microcrystalline wax.
Silver & Gold Plated Metals

- Avoid all contact with water, sweat, perfume, lotions, and cleaning products — these will wear away the plating quickly.
- Never use polishing cloths with chemicals or abrasive materials on plated pieces, as this removes the plating.
- Gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth after each wear.
- Store individually in a soft pouch to prevent scratching.
- Understand that plated jewelry will naturally wear over time — the longevity depends on how often it's worn and how well it's cared for.
